FISHING DERBY

Join the Addison Park District and the DuPage County Forest Preserve for the third annual family fishing derby. Prizes for the biggest fish will be awarded! This is a catch and release event. Pre-registration is recommended and will be taken at Community and Centennial Recreation Centers, or online at addisonparkdistrict.org. Registration will be accepted from 7-9 a.m. the day of the event. Space is limited, please register early!

SCARECROW FESTIVAL

Test your skills at our first ever Scarecrow Festival! Have fun creating your very own scarecrow. The contest will begin at noon and you will have one hour to create your scarecrow. There will be prizes for first, second and third place. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative scarecrows. Limit two people per scarecrow.

PAWS IN THE PARK

Looking for fun and excitement with your dog? Hoping to win prizes and take home free pet goodie bags? Then join us on September 18 for a look-alike contest, scavenger hunt, dog parade and Frisbee show which is sponsored by Naperville Skydogz! Chicago Police Officer, Steve Martinez, will "fetch" his best friend and companion, Pantera, to demonstrate what it means to work in the narcotics unit of the Chicago Police force. Others joining in the dog fest include Almost Home Animal Shelter, Wild Goose Chase and Canine Inspection and Detection Services. Dogs must be leashed at all times and up-todate on vaccinations. All owners must pick up after their dogs (bring your own bags please!). In-person registration is required by September 16.

DATE BREAK: PAJAMA PARTY

Take a break and go on a date! Drop off the kids in their PJs for a night of fun as you enjoy a night away with your significant other. The kids will play games, enjoy an ice cream social, eat popcorn, watch a movie and enjoy some free play. You can get out and have some time to share with someone special or even have a few hours to yourself!

CANDY CARNIVAL

Calling all kids, put your Halloween Costume on and come to Community Rec Center for the annual Candy Carnival. Children will have a blast playing a variety of halloween theme games including: boo buckets, bat bean bag toss, ghoulish putting green, candy walk, pumpkin sack races, howlin' hula hoops and more! Plus, at 6:30 p.m. there will be a costume contest and prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in all age categories. Note: children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants may pay at the door.

PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST

Grab your pumpkins and join us for a night of fun!
Prizes will be given for the scariest, funniest and most
original pumpkins. Note: Paint and carving utensils will

MOVIE IN THE GYM

Don’t worry about the weather as we will be inside the gym for a screening of Toy Story 3. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and the entire family out to see a movie on the big screen. Concessions will be available for purchase. Bring money for popcorn and drinks.

TURKEY TROT

This race is for the birds, literally! All runners and walkers are welcome to participate in this festive event. Participants must predict their estimated time for completing the race, which ranges from one-half mile (kids’ race) to five miles. The closest participant to his/her predicted time wins a turkey! Pre-registration is encouraged, but we will also have registration at 7:30 a.m. the day of the race.

FAMILY GINGERBREAD
HOUSE BUILDING CONTEST

Work together as a family to decorate a house made of gingerbread. You will have one hour to create a masterpiece as a family. We will supply the frosting, the candy and the house. Design a house that will be edible and delicious for the entire family. Please register per gingerbread house, not by the individual. Registration deadline is 12/3! Prizes will be given for first and second place.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

Christmas is almost here. Share the holiday spirit with Santa and kids of all ages. Come and have breakfast with Santa Claus! We will be eating breakfast and playing reindeer games. Each child will have a chance to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. Each child will receive a holiday gift! Bring your camera and take a picture with Santa to capture the moment. Preregistration is required. Tickets will NOT be available at the door! Space is limited, so register early!

POLAR EXPRESS

Experience the magic of the Polar Express, the classic children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. The Polar Express comes to life when the train departs from the Itasca Metra Station for a journey to the ‘North Pole’. Enjoy chocolate milk and cookies while listening to the magical story. Watch the joy on your children’s faces as we stop at the North Pole and pick up Santa Claus! Make this a family tradition! Call today to make your reservations, space is limited. Train #1 meet at the Itasca Train Station by 8:30 a.m. for check in. Train leaves promptly at 9:11 a.m. and returns at 10:23 a.m. Train #2 meet at the Itasca Train Station at 10:50 a.m. for check in. Train leaves at 11:11 and returns at 12:23 p.m. Space fills up quickly so don’t wait! Preregistration is required.
